What are the age limits for the ride?
How will I be notified if the event is cancelled due to poor weather?
We will email everyone who has bought tickets and post on facebook and the website.
Will I need to train for this?
This is dependant on your fitness levels and experience, so it’s totally up to you. However if you are tackling the A6 ride, we would recommend that you get a few miles in before the event.
Is there a cut off time?
No, both starting car parks remain open although the stewarding will end at 16:00
What do I do if I have a puncture or a mechanical problem?
You should take a puncture repair kit with you during the ride. Mechanics will be in the Matlock Park. If you do have a mechanical problem that needs attention during the ride, phone the emergency hotline number so we can get help out to you as soon as we can.
What do I do if I need first aid?
When you register for the ride at either start point you will be given an emergency hotline number to phone. If you need medical assistance, phone this number straight away so that we can get a first aider out to you as soon as possible.
Will there be a medical team in attendance?
There will be medical staff available to attend an incident if you call us on the event number (07XXX XXXXXX). They will also be at the Matlock Park
I’m riding the family event with my child on a bike seat/tag along – do I need a ticket for them?
No, the free tickets are just to help us understand numbers and manage the riders taking part
Will the roads be closed?
No, the A6 ride is run on open roads. Given the location and length of the route it would be impractical and inconvenient to other road users to run the event on closed roads.
Will there be water/food on the course?
Not on the route but there will be food and drinks for sale at the end of each ride in the Matlock Park
Is there a bag drop at the start?
There is no official bag drop for the event I’m afraid
Are helmets compulsory on these rides?
Yes they are – you won’t be able to participate without one.
What will I need on the day?
Your tickets, either printed or on your phone, spares (inner tube, tyre levers, and pump), waterproof, drinks bottle.
Will the routes be clearly signposted?
All routes will be clearly sign posted with yellow correx signs and black arrows. There will be a Cycle Derby Sportive sticker on every sign associated with the event. At each junction there will be signs before, at and just after the junction.
Where can I register on the day?
Event registration is an important process for all mass participation events. It confirms the person participating is the one who entered and have the latest information of route conditions and regulations.
Registration will be at the University of Derby car park for the A6 Ride from 08:30 until 11:00 and at the Old Station Lane car park in Rowsley from 09:00 for the Family Ride. At registration you will be checked in using your ticket and given any last minute updates about the route.
Will there be extra parking close by?
For the A6 Ride the Mundy Centre car park, just off Markeaton Lane is near the official car park for the event. There is a £4.40 car parking charge payable at the Pay and Display machines in the car park. Please note that if you don’t have a visible ticket in your car, you may get a parking fine.
Park rangers close the car park at 18:30 so please ensure you are back before that time so you can get your car out!
For the Family Ride…..
What time does each ride start?
The ride start times will be staggered so that we can get all riders out onto the roads safely.
A6 Campaign Ride – 10:00 to 11:00
Family Ride – 09:00 to 11:00
If I book on the A6 ride can I transfer to the Family ride on the day?
You can also transfer before the event by logging in to eventbrite system and getting a ticket for the other ride.
Please remember to cancel the original booking to allow space for other riders.
Will I get a booking confirmation once I’ve registered online?
Yes, this will automatically get emailed to you immediately after you’ve registered. If you lose this confirmation, you can email us and we’ll send it over to you again.
Your confirmation email contains a link to log back into the entry system in case you need to amend or change any details.
